Mission to Magic With Seventhwave

We reckon Banks Peninsula is one of Canterbury’s greatest assets. For surfers, it’s a bit of a dream, because its almost-perfectly-circular shape means beaches along the peninsula can get swell from most directions. You just have to know where to go depending on where the swell is coming from. 


It was a cold Tuesday morning, well after the tail end of Summer in April, that we set off from our home in Sumner at 5:30am. We’d seen insane reports and photos from a south-facing bay of pumping swell. 


The goal was to shoot photos and video for the new website we were building for Seventhwave: makers of some of the world’s highest quality and most sustainable wetsuits, based right here in Aotearoa, New Zealand. 


What we got exceeded our already high expectations. It was a calm, clear morning, with beautiful rolling swell and we’re stoked with what we managed to capture. Take a look at the photos and video below.
